I don’t wear my heart on my sleeve,

It likes to nip at my heels instead

Pushing me to give more, listen longer,

Ache to ease someone else’s pain- and I do.

I do, but not like a bride, smiling

swearing to be pure — You cannot

divorce this monster

My love is ugly from weather

it will cling to you in all the hurt spots,

sinking roots deep in all that soft

you pretend not to have

love this warm

will wrap you in tomorrow and promise to be there,

like sun, like wind, like rain

it cycles

but never

This poem is an homage to the screen name I began writing poetry under when I was 13 yrs old.
